    Description

    Newton 7200 Flash Rotator/Flip Bracket for 35mm
Longer than usual description to help you decide if this bracket is right for you: Bought new by me in 2002 for use with my film cameras. It worked well for my purposes, although I stopped using it after a few months. (Reason was I mostly bounced flash and decided flipping the flash head was easier than using the bracket. If you shoot with the flash pointed at your subject, however, the bracket would be quite useful indeed.)
I wish I had used other brackets so I could recommend why you should consider this bracket. I can't say for sure it has any special advantages over others, but I felt it operated smoothly and predictably and wasn't too heavy.
The photos show how it mounts on a film camera (Nikon F3 and 35mm lens). Mount the plate to the bottom of the camera. This plate is slotted so you can move it left or right, but the intent is to have the flash directly over the lens. The bracket slips into a dovetail slot and is secured by a knurled knob. Note that the bracket can screw into any 1/4-20 socket (the socket on the camera or a Really Right Stuff plate) so you might not need to mount the plate all the time, although you lose the benefit of the dovetail connection.
The flash is out in front of the camera and is adjustable so the shoe is between 2-1/2" and 4" in front of the film plane/sensor. The flash head itself would be another inch or two in front of that. There is about 2" clearance between the bracket and center of the lens, so a 4" diameter lens is the biggest that would work.
Another consideration is the shoe. This auction includes the Newton 7039 shoe for "standard" flashes which worked fine with my Vivitar 285, but it does not work with any of my other flashes (Nikon SB600 or Metz 54MZ-3). Newton made other shoes, but the company seems to be out of business. There seem to be a number of other shoes with center holes that I think could work, but no guarantee.
Includes three hex wrenches and one page manual.
Please read the Newton description and let me know if you need additional photographs or have any questions.
