BASE WEIGHT BEADS for plastic bases - Lead Shot - Warhammer WFB AOS and 40k

Description

Annoyed by unstable miniatures? Models with plastic bases can fall over easily, particularly standards or banner bearers. Metal washers can rust. Diving ballast and fishing shot are not uniform and sizing is wrong. Gluing these lead beads to the bases is the ideal solution.
The beads fill about 40-50 small
25mm
round bases. They should fit the following bases: Citadel Games Workshop
20mm
square,
25mm
square,
25mm
round and
40mm
round. The bag of beads weighs approximately 8 ounces (1/2 lb).
These lead beads work with or without movement trays. If using Neodymium magnets to attach bases to metal trays for movement, the beads can still be used, just glue magnets in first and then add beads.
Easy Process
: Add superglue inside the bottom of the base and let it run around a bit or use a toothpick to get it into the corners. Hold the base over a tray to catch the excess lead balls. Pour in the base beads. Use a flat edge (metal ruler or knife blade) across the base to remove excess beads. Leave flat to dry and then give the base a tap to check if beads are all attached. You can add an extra dab of superglue, acrylic medium / varnish or undercoat spray on top to protectively seal the beads. You might see white hazy “bloom” (last photo) on the bottom edges of black plastic base which is due to superglue drying process. Bloom can be rubbed off or painted over.
These beads are
best for smaller bases
, particularly single models that fall over easily. With large bases, be aware that drying glue can shrink and warp the base if not kept flat during drying, especially with superglue activator.
